Termly Reflections

Term 1
Test 1 ):
In this test, I got a 24/40 which was a B4. This grade was not satisfactory at all because personally I felt that although I had been studying for the test, I had been studying the wrong topics and when questions about laboratory instruments came out, I did not know what to do and was quite shocked. This test tested on - Introduction to Science. Introduction to Science should have been the easiest topic for me to score yet I didnt so I had to buck up as the topics from then on would be much harder. This incident had thought me to verify verify and verify with the teacher about the topics if I were not sure and this time it was at the expense of my test grades.
Feelings:
In this term, we learnt about flames. Luminous flames and Non-Luminous flames were kind of confusing for me and that having to memerize the parts of it and the which part is hotter and etc. We also had to learn the difference between measuring cyliner and beaker and stuff like that and since I was not much of a mugging person, I did not do well in exercises and tests like that. Also one mistake for me was that as the Holidays were just over, I was still in the 'holiday' mood and took things really easily and thus I did not really do very well.

Term 2
Test 2 o:
In this test, I got a 26/40 which is a B3. Although this marks were an improvement from my previous test results, I still was not pleased with them. Time was also an issue during this test and I remember having to rush through the test as the teacher released us late and we did not have sufficient time to complete the test. Thus, in the process of having to rush through the test, I make many careless mistakes at the conversion and at the same time got metal blocks for some of the questions. I feel that I did not really revise sufficiently on this test as I encountered some questions which I did not expect to meet. I will try to go into the examination room prepared the next test and will try to make use of the June Holidays.
Feelings:
Due to me not studying for the test not thoroughly enough, in the course of this test, I had encountered problems thus causing mental blocks and panic in parts of the paper. I feel that if I had revised more on the topics and delve deeper into the topic and not just revised on the surface of this topic, I would not have been so nervous in the course of this test and might not have made the careless mistakes that I made causing me to cut down on my marks and being penalised.

Term 3
Test 3(:
I got 28/40 in this test (A2). And im quite happy and sad at the same time. It seems that ive been improving by a grade ever term. Hopefully Ill get A1 next term. I was quite happy at my results as I had finally gotten the A that I had been wanting to get. Before this exams, even though I had holiday training and competition caused me to miss many lessons, I went back and read Mr Low's notes and researched on the internet and asked friends what was in the lesson. Im actually quite proud of myself for this as I have not been really good at science since young. I was quite sad at my results because I could have easily gotten an A1 if not have been my numerous careless mistakes. I actually had known some of the answers but had not included them in the blanks. I was also quite sad as for this test I was around the class's average and that as I had a competition when there was the Science Exam, I had to take a retest and my retest seemed easier than the normal one that my other classmates had taken.
Feelings:
I feel that although an A2 is a perfectly decent score, it has shown that my hard work had paid of as through the terms, my marks have been steadily increasing from a B4 to a A2. I have really learnt the meaning of "you reap what you sow". Through this test, I can also no longer blame the teacher for any subject that I do not score well as it proved that although I missed many different lessons, I did follow ups and assessment books and revised and it paid off. I feel that with the end-of-years in sight, I will work doubly hard and try to seek advice from friends who are good at science and revise more with my friends and pay much more attention in class.
